The top natural shampoo for long and shining hair.

Updated on October 9, 2013

The wonder shampoo

You crave for long, shining and thick hair, don’t you? The main culprits for your hair fall are dirt and grime. You go out and your hair is layered with dust and pollution. You want to wash your hair daily, but you are terrified that the chemicals in the shampoo you use will damage your hair.

Long haired women in India

In India you can see many women sporting long hair which falls well below their knees. I always envy such hair as it gives you incredible beauty. I have asked many women the secret to their beautiful hair and invariably every one said that they did not use chemical products and always relied on natural ways to maintain their hair.

Hibiscus for long hair

Most of them say hibiscus flowers, leaves, fenugreek powder, and soap nut powder made their hair gleam with health. ‘Hibiscus leaves and flowers are highly capable of removing grime and oil from hair and I use it regularly’ told my long haired cousin. ‘How exactly do you use hibiscus to wash your hair’ I asked her eagerly.

The method of making hibiscus shampoo paste

The leaves of hibiscus have a foaming tendency and they work as a natural shampoo for your hair. Not all hibiscus leaves are suitable to be used as a shampoo. You should only use the leaves and flowers of the ordinary red hibiscus. Pluck the leaves of hibiscus and also pluck five to six flowers. Soak one tablespoon of fenugreek in water for an hour.

Make a smooth paste of the soaked fenugreek and add the leaves and flowers of hibiscus and blend well. Add one tablespoon of soap nut powder. The paste should be very smooth. Now add water to make it into to a semi solid consistency. Wet your hair well and if fact your hair should be dripping wet for the mixture to spread well.

How to use it

Take the paste and apply on your hair. Coat every strand of your hair with the paste and gently rub it as you would do with the shampoo. Wash your hair and reapply to make your hair totally oil and grime free. It is the rinsing which will take a long time as fenugreek has the tendency to stick to your hair. Gently run your fingers through your hair to remove all the residues.

One main drawback

The main drawback of this natural way of washing your hair is that it takes a longer time to wash, but when you see the results you will feel that it was worth the trouble. Fenugreek gives a gleam to your hair, hibiscus leaves and flowers make it feel soft and smooth.

You can pamper your hair during weekends when you are not in hurry to rush to work. Of course using shampoo is very easy and less time consuming, but these sort of natural way of taking care of your hair will always prove to be effective in the long run.
